Keeping the dream alive...

When I was much much younger, I used to day-dream that one day I'll be THE heroine who will save many lives, discourage wars, promote harmony and eventually received the much coveted Nobel Peace Prize. Yeah, you may think it's silly.

I thought so too.

But throughout human history Christ-followers have always been the biggest dreamers of the impossible!

I was reading this book and it says that for many centuries, God has been in the business of building astonishing lives, lives that "by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight."

Nowadays we gravitate away from difficulty. After all, if you never aim high, you'll never be disappointed with mediocrity. When you aim for impossible, you are usually misunderstood, ridiculed, and alienated.

However, when it seemed all hope was lost, it meant the almighty God was near. Knowing this has greatly encouraged me.

"But how far have I gone? How much longer before I reach my goal? How good am I?"

I've learnt that the art of living is meant to be boundless adventure beyond our wildest dreams. We read a few Bible verses, sing a few worship songs, and assumed that we have reached the spiritual maturity of Paul the apostle. We may be a step ahead of the world but ten thousand steps behind where God desires to take us.

Christianity is a lifelong quest of discovering God and growth. The adventure begins and never ends.

The hopes we had were much too high
Way out of reach but we have to try
No need to hide no need to run
'Cause all the answers come one by one
The game will never be over
Because we're keeping the dream alive
