Walk the line

Been returning home rather late for the past 2 nights and then ended up super sleepy during work. Watched "Walk the line" on Sunday night. It was rather a good show but it's a bit draggy.

Thumbs up to Joaquim Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon for the singing in the show. The show is a true account of this 50s/60s singer Johnny Cash's journey to fame and his love affairs with June Carter. It's a struggle from a young and innocent lad who only sing hymns and folks song to an arrogant rock n roll star. He became a womanizer (though he was married with 3 kids), a drunkard and a drug-abuser. In the end he lost everything...his wife, his children, he was arrested for carrying drugs and became very lonely. All the time, June Carter been there to help him and encourage him to walk the line, quit drugs and go church.

There was this dialogue in the show between Cash and Carter which left a deep impression in my mind. It was an emotional scene and it was also when Cash came to his senses. He said this:"What have I done? I have done so many wrong things and I know I've hurt you." "Yes, but God is giving you a second chance now. Treasure it." Carter replied.

In the end both of them got married. They made many tours behind the bars to reach out to the jailbirds.

"You miss a lot of opportunities by making mistakes, but that's part of it: knowing that you're not shut out forever, and that's a goal you still can reach." - Johnny Cash
