My journey in Timor...day 2
Had to wake up super early today (4am SG time!) and have brekker before we depart for Jesus' statue. After we reached the bottom of the hill, I learned that we need to climb 700+++ steps to reach the statue!!!

Beginning of our journey up the hill...
Each step was painful as it was hot + humid + mossies = not a very good combo. The sun was beating down on us.

Still a longggg wayyyy to goooo...
This walk up the hill just reminded me of how our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ carried His own cross up to the Calvary.

Getting there...almost!!
As I climbed higher and higher, the view was really breath-taking!!!

Picture paints a thousand words - see for yourself!

Jesus summoning the nations to East Timor...
We had corporate P&W session then followed by a time of intercession for the land.

P&W at the statue...
Next on our intinerary...we were supposed to visit Comorro market but in the end due to some confusion we didn't go there. Guess where we were heading to? To TASI TOLU LAKE!!!!! It must be God's will!!!

The infamous lake...
We did prayer walking there, we repented on behalf of the Indonesians for the mass destructions and killings done on this land. Ps Benny Ho also led his Perth team to repent on behalf of the aussies who exploited the Timorese of oil.

Praying by the lake...
We left Tasi Tolu for Arte Morris art school, a non-profit art school and cultural centre that was set up in Feb 2003 by this swiss artist, Mr Luca Gansser & his wife Gabriella. This school aims to use art to help heal the psychological trauma of children & youth after decades of violence. Many of the artworks portrays violence, death and confusion, because of the youths lived through the Indonesian occupation where violence was a part of their lives & memories.

Bondages...

Deaths...

Confusion...
I felt a sense of heaviness in the air while I was in Arte Morris. After viewing the galleries, the guide took us around the school. We met the founder and chatted with him for a while. We prayed for the school before we leave for Bali Sunrise for our lunch. Rested in our hotel rooms for an hr then set-off for The Dominican Orphanage.

She's only 20 yr old...
Lotsa families couldn't afford to raise so many children, the parents had to send them to orphanages. Either that, they lost their families thru the war. The gal in the picture above, she has 2 siblings - 1 4 yr old and the other 7. She came from Baucau (another district of Timor), when asked about her family, her tears welled up in her eyes. My heart broke.

Mingling with the kids at Aledia Alecrin...
We sang and distributed oil, sugar and rice to the villagers there.

Birthday cake for Jesus...
Ended at around 8 plus at night...everyone of us was tired but happy. Praise God!

After much fun with the youths and kids at the orphanage, we left for our next programme - "Singing Everywhere" at this village, Aldeia Alecrin
