My journey in Timor...day 4

Didn't really sleep well last night, the night suddenly turned very cold at 2-3am. 9 of us had to squeeze into a small room. Woken up by Mich's sleep-talks in the middle of the night.

Had morning devotion then brekker before we proceed to the border to visit a primary school. 30 of us gotta squeezed on to a small pick-up called "Angunah" to travel there.

A road less travelled...

Can you spot me??

The students weren't that interactive, but when you asked them to sing...they can sing and sing and sing till Kingdom come. Their monthly sch fees is about 25 cents (USD) but there are still lotsa families couldn't afford to send their children to school. 40% of the population survive on less than US$1 a day! 50% of people who are old enough to work cannot find jobs and 5% of unemployment rate in normal circumstances already considered a crisis!

We had lunch at the cafeteria next to the Youth centre. Then we stayed there to play with kids, it's amazing that they just need a few pieces of grass/leaves and tie it together with a rubber band to form a "chap teh". Simplicity of their lives...

The whole of today I was pondering about the future of East Timor, the land and the people are so beautiful. But they were marred by the unpleasant past. God suddenly gave me this chapter in Isaiah, it's Isaiah 35. After reading the chapter, I cried. Tears of happiness. I told God that if this is really His promise to the land of Timor, I pray that day will come soon. I seriously pray that there will be water springing out in the desert, the fearful-hearted will be strong, the blind shall see, the deaf shall hear, the lame shall leap and the dumb shall sing praises unto the Lord! All the ppl of Timor shall rejoice...the sighing and sorrow shall flee away forevermore! Amen!!!!

Mich further confirmed regarding Isa 35 when she saw a vision early this morning of a wasteland blossomed. Hallelujah!!

Just a note: finally get to bathe today!!!!!
